About

Jonush Barry is a photographer, videographer, artist, recording tech and a long-time resident of Greenwich Village. He collected and curated these images over more than four decades, along with his collaborator, Robert Thugut, who captured the earliest images.

Over the course of these decades, JB knew he was chronicling an exquisitely unique and ever-evolving place and time, foreseeing that these images would hold interest for the future. That future is now. All these images are from personal collections and have never been published or made public until now.

Stay tuned. There are more collections to be brought to light and life, including immersive and provocative images of October 31 in Greenwich Village collected over years. Jonush captured the evolution of the infamous Village Halloween Parade and beyond, stepping into the wild and dark.

JB is a lifelong surfer and has photographed many “swell events” of the NY and NJ shorelines, plus beautiful oceanic settings across the western hemisphere that capture the magical intersection where energetic water meets land.

JB’s mixed media art is also of an oceanic and surf zone motif. Look for curated collections in the near future.
